Washable alpaca fur
Do not wash too often! The alpaca fur in the footmuff is self-cleaning, dirt-repellent, and easy to care for.
Avoid strong odors! Alpaca fibers have a hollow core, which is why they absorb odors such as perfume or smoke more readily.
General care:
- Use an alpaca fur brush or a wide-toothed comb/brush for regular care.
- Brush regularly and always in the direction of hair growth to prevent hair breakage.
- Shake out for soft, fluffy fur
- Air out regularly in a cool, shady place – the fur may get damp, but the leather must not get wet!
- For light stains: Brush while damp with cold distilled water; minerals in tap water can damage alpaca fibers.
- For stubborn stains: Use our special alpaca shampoo and test it first on an inconspicuous area.
Machine washing at 30 °C
- As rarely as possible!
- Recommended: Hand washing or your washing machine’s wool/hand-wash cycle (cold or max. 30°C, max. 600 rpm).
- Only use special alpaca shampoo with soapwort extract.
- Lay out to dry immediately after washing.
Note on alpaca leather: The back of the alpaca fur can become stiff and tear when exposed to excessive moisture. The fibers also lose strength when they become damp. Make sure the leather backing does not get too wet, and lay the fur footmuff out to dry immediately after washing.
Drying:
- Spread out flat and lay out to dry immediately after washing.
- in a well-ventilated place (e.g., on a drying rack on the balcony).
- No direct sunlight or proximity to artificial heat sources (e.g., a heater).
- Do not tumble dry!
