Avoid strong odors! Alpaca fibers have a hollow core, which is why they absorb odors such as perfume or smoke more readily.
General Care:
- Alpaca is self-cleaning, stain-resistant, and easy to care for.
- Keep dry! Alpaca leather can become stiff and tear when exposed to moisture.
- Alpaca fibers lose their strength when they get damp.
- Use an alpaca coat brush or a comb/brush with wide teeth for regular care.
- Always brush in the direction of hair growth to prevent breakage.
- Brush and shake out regularly for a soft, fluffy coat; it’s best to air it out in a cool, shady place.
For light stains: Brush while damp with cold distilled water. CAUTION: Minerals in tap water can damage alpaca fibers.
For stubborn stains: Use our alpaca coat shampoo and test it first on an inconspicuous area.
