Washing and Caring for Sheepskin Pram Footmuffs
When it comes to sheepskin footmuffs for prams, the golden rule is: do not wash too often! The inner lining is made of 100% Merino lambskin, which is self-cleaning, dirt-repellent, and easy to maintain. However, if stain removal is necessary, here are the essential guidelines for washing and care.
Before considering washing your footmuff, try to remove dirt manually first. For tougher stains, use a damp cloth with a small amount of washing-up liquid. Let the lambskin dry, then brush out any remaining dirt with a soft brush.
Washing Instructions for Sheepskin Pram Footmuffs
Use a mild, pH-neutral wool detergent or, ideally, our specialised sheepskin shampoo. Select the wool wash cycle (or alternatively delicate/hand wash) at a maximum of 30°C. After washing, the footmuff should only be gently spun to remove excess water.
- IMPORTANT: For the HOCHSÖLDEN footmuff model, remove the magnetic strips before washing!
How to Dry a Sheepskin Pram Footmuff
Lay the footmuff flat in a well-ventilated area to dry. Never use a tumble dryer! While still damp, gently reshape the footmuff and brush the fleece to maintain its softness.
WARNING: Natural lambskin products should never be dried near direct heat sources such as radiators or in direct sunlight. Excessive heat can cause the leather to become hard and brittle, while sunlight may alter the colour of the fleece.
General Care for Your Sheepskin Pram Footmuff
To keep your sheepskin footmuff fluffy and soft, we recommend regular brushing and shaking it out in fresh air. The best conditions for this are slightly damp, misty weather, which helps maintain its softness.
