Merino Wool Washing Instructions

Merino wool is naturally self-cleaning, wicking away moisture and neutralising odours – so you don’t have to wash it as often as other fabrics. Most of the time, simply airing out your Merino wool garments is enough to keep them fresh.

However, if your Merino beanie gets really dirty after an outdoor adventure, you can safely wash it in the washing machine. Follow these care tips to keep your favourite Merino wool pieces soft, warm, and free from felting.

Care Tips for Your Merino Wool Products

  • Wash Merino wool at a maximum of 30°C using your washing machine’s special wool cycle.
  • To prevent damage, always use a low spin setting (max. 600 RPM).
  • Choose a mild, pH-neutral wool detergent. Our special sheepskin shampoo is also suitable for washing Merino wool.
  • Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners, as they can weaken the fibres.
  • Let your Merino wool dry naturally – never tumble dry, as heat can shrink and damage the fibres.

Natural Merino Wool – Reliable, Practical & Warm for Every Occasion!

Merino sheep are a fine-wool breed with a highly crimped, exceptionally soft fleece. This fine wool structure ensures that our cosy Merino products feel wonderfully soft against the skin. Merino wool combines the best properties of synthetic fibres with the benefits of natural wool.

Thanks to its excellent insulation properties, Merino wool keeps you warm in winter and retains its heat-regulating function even when damp – making it perfect for beanies, scarves, and outdoor clothing. Another natural benefit of Merino wool is its self-cleaning and odour-resistant qualities, thanks to keratin and lanolin.
